THE GOLDEN BUBBLE OF LOVE

This Is Us.

Kenny. Kara. Little Kenny. K3. We're a family built on love, communication, togetherness, health, happiness and one pretty simple belief: this life is ours to actually live. What you see here isn't us pretending everything is perfect. It's our real life. Our book is open. Nice to meet you.

Kenny and Kara Lydon, Goat Path Financial - Freedom On Purpose
FREEDOM ON PURPOSE

Money is a tool.
Life is the point.

Goat Path Financial is the financial side of the same philosophy: education, protection, planning and creating more choices for the life you actually want to live.

WHY WE CHOSE DIFFERENT

We wanted more life in our life.

We'd done the grind. New Jersey. Catering. Sales. The office. The schedule. We wanted out on our own, so we pointed an old truck and camper west.

Colorado Springs was a start, but eventually it felt like the same rat race with prettier scenery. We kept asking what we actually wanted our days to feel like. The answer led us southwest to the San Luis Valley.

Not an escape from life. A chance to actually live it.

The early truck and camper journey
FREEDOM, TO US, IS US.

Time together. Our own schedule. A life that actually feels like ours.

Freedom isn't about never working or chasing some lavish version of life. It's being able to slow down on a Sunday, grind when something matters, grow food, travel, learn, raise our son together and decide what deserves our time.

THE QUESTIONS THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

What if life didn't have to look the way we were told?

We didn't wake up one day with a perfect plan. We started asking better questions.

WE ASKED

What do we actually want our days to feel like?

More time together. More mountains. More creating. Less waiting for someday.

WE LEARNED

Do we have to know how before we begin?

No. We learned solar, plumbing, framing, water and septic because real life kept handing us the next lesson.

WE REALIZED

What were we really building?

Not just a house. A home. A family rhythm. A base camp. A life that actually felt like ours.

WE KEPT ASKING

Why not?

Not “why can't we?” but “what would it take?” That question changed the direction of our lives.

BELIEVE IT. BUILD IT. BECOME IT.

We didn't know how.
So we learned.

There was nothing here. Dirt. Chico bush. Cactus. Open sky. An old pickup truck. An old camper. And a dream. We didn't arrive with a finished house, a pile of money or a master plan. We learned as we built. We screwed things up. We rebuilt things. We kept going.

Board by board. Piece by piece. Year by year. Tear by tear.

Where it started.
Pregnant. Building. Together.
Learning as we went.
From the ground up.
THE HARD PART WAS THE POINT

Power. Water. Septic. Solar. Framing. Mistakes.

At first, power meant one car battery, one solar panel and a tiny inverter. We learned amps and watts because we had to. We ran a water line hundreds of feet. We dealt with frozen pipes and a frozen septic system. YouTube and Google became pretty good friends.

Kara was pregnant while we were building. Then when Little Kenny needed a bili blanket after birth, the question wasn't abstract: how much power does it draw, and can our off-grid system run it? That's what learning looked like out here. Real life gave us the test first. We figured out the lesson next.

Dig. Learn. Fix. Repeat.
One project became another.
Then it started becoming home.
Home Base today
THE LIFE WE BUILT

We weren't building a house.

We were building a home. And even that wasn't really the goal. We were building a life.

The mountains through the windows, the projects, the greenhouse, the chickens, the mornings, the mess, the quiet, the freedom to leave and the feeling of coming back. Home Base became exactly that: our base camp for living.

This was the view we were working for. Not just the mountains. This life.

STRONGER TOGETHER

Somewhere along the way, K2 became K3.

Living small, building from nothing and figuring things out together gave us a million opportunities to learn how to be a team. Communication became everything. We work together. We live together. We love together. We grow together.

Still building. Still learning. Still us.
K3.
Worth coming home to.
“Little Kenny didn't just grow up in the life we were building.
He grew up watching us build it.”THE LIFE BEHIND THE IDEA
THE FREEDOM TO GO

Home Base isn't the destination. It's where we launch from.

Road trips. Vans. Mountains. Deserts. Campfires. Random weekday adventures. Sometimes the best plan is simply pointing at something beautiful and asking, “Why not?”

Explore.
Experience.
Learn.
Repeat.
HOW DO WE MAKE IT WORK?

We don't have one job title.
We have a toolbox.

We're builders, problem solvers, opportunity finders and lifelong learners. We've done logging and fire mitigation, cultivation, consulting, siding, painting, roofing, building, rentals, property development, camper builds, vehicle projects, websites, financial education and plenty more.

Sometimes we work like crazy. Sometimes we create room to breathe. If something changes, we pivot. We make money to support our life. We don't build our life around making money.

NOW, WHAT ABOUT YOU?

Am I living a life that lights me up inside?

Our life doesn't need to look like yours. That's the whole point. This isn't a blueprint for how to live. It's proof that you can question the blueprint you were given.

Am I excited to wake up tomorrow?
Am I spending my time on the people and things that matter?
Am I living according to what I want, or what I've been told I'm supposed to want?
They did that. Why can't I?

So... what's your WHY NOT?

WHY SHARE ANY OF THIS?

Maybe a little bit of our light reaches somebody who needs it.

We're not here because we think we've figured out life. Quite the opposite. If something we've learned, built, written or experienced finds the right person at the right moment and makes them appreciate their life a little more, or finally ask “Why not?”, then sharing it was worth it.
